Chief Executive Officer

 

Kamal serves at ACE in the capacity of CEO. He has over 13 years of professional work experience, specializing in monitoring & evaluation (M&E) and operations management. Having worked in management-level positions at a number of prominent public, private, and development sector organizations, Kamal has developed expertise in the areas of business development, project management, process mapping & simplification, workforce development, and staff coaching. Kamal begin his career in the manufacturing industry, performing quality assurance, M&E, and market assessment.

 

He later transitioned to work on projects related to Afghanistan’s rural development, serving at the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation & Development, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the Danish Committee for Aid to Afghan Refugees (DACAAR). After establishing a solid career foundation, Kamal took on a critical M&E position with the United Kingdom’s Department of International Development (DFID). Kamal was tasked with monitoring grants dispensed by Harakat, a grant facility supported by DFID. Following over two years with DFID, Kamal took his M&E expertise to Tetra Tech, a development agency specializing in the implementation of international donor programs. At Tetra Tech, he developed M&E plans, data collection tools, and conducted a number of evaluations for sub-contracts awarded by Tetra Tech. He was also part of data quality review exercises by USAID, and additionally facilitated a number of M&E training workshops for the project sub-contractors.

 

After several years working in the development sector, Kamal returned to the private sector in 2013 to take a director-level position with ACE. At ACE, he managed a wide range of training and workforce development projects that supported private sector development. This included business planning, management advisory, and strategy formulation. He continued working for ACE in the capacity of Managing Director, and later as Partner. In 2017, Kamal was appointed as CEO of the firm. Kamal holds a master’s degree in English Literature from the University of Peshawar, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Operations Management from the Indira Gandhi University of India, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Studies from the University of Peshawar, Pakistan.
