With focus on employment-creation, facilitated migration and vocational training, the Support Afghanistan Livelihoods and Mobility (SALAM) project aims to meet the sustainable livelihoods needs of returnees and host communities, in the wake of the massive and ongoing return of Afghan people from Pakistan. SALAM is implemented primarily by the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Martyrs and Disabled (MoLSAMD).

Job Creation in Nangarhar Province, Support to Afghanistan Livelihoods and Mobility (SALAM)

With focus on employment-creation, facilitated migration and vocational training, the Support Afghanistan Livelihoods and Mobility (SALAM) project aims to meet the sustainable livelihoods needs of returnees and host communities, in the wake of the massive and ongoing return of Afghan people from Pakistan. SALAM is implemented primarily by the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Martyrs and Disabled (MoLSAMD).

With initial funding support from the Government of Finland, SALAM activities currently focus on Nangarhar Province., UNDP contracted ACE to facilitate on-the-job training placements with private-sector enterprises for not less than 200 job-seekers and will ensure that not less than 60% of the trainees will progress to sustainable employment with the entities providing the on-the-job training.

ACE is also responsible for inception report, identification and selection of job-seekers, identification and selection of hiring entities to provide on-the-job training and subsequent employment, oversight of training and employment and knowledge capture of this pilot project.

Youth Internship Program in Nangarhar Province, Support to Afghanistan Livelihoods and Mobility (SALAM)

UNDP contracted ACE to facilitate subsidized employment and study internships for not less than 125 unemployed young persons aged (18-21) in Nangarhar Province.

Under this project, ACE is responsible for below deliverables/activities:

  • Project startup and inception report;
  • Identification and selection of hosting enterprises;
  • Identification and selection of interns;
  • Oversight of internship programme;
  • Knowledge capture and reporting.
